George Wilson

Underwriting Executive

Born in Hartford, CT George was surrounded by music from the get go. His dad, being a high school band director by day and professional jazz pianist by night, would bring home instruments for George to explore. By the time he was a high school student, George was often called upon to fill in sections of the band on different instruments. The drums were definitely George’s calling and at the age of nine he joined one of the many ‘fife & drum’ corps popular in the North East. Through his teen years George played with many a band in the local Connecticut Club scene.

George attended University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music to round out an already career player and had the privilege of taking lessons from jazz drummer extraordinaire Bob Moses. Back in the day, George spent many hours in the studio, having the honor of recording demos with such talented musicians as Frank Previte, song writer for the movie Dirty Dancing and leader of Frankie & the Knockouts; touring and recording with Paul Carney, son of actor Art Carney and a host of others too numerous to mention.

Relocating to Central Florida from Connecticut in 1983, George continued performing in the Central Florida music scene. After embracing digital technologies, George began composing radio jingles for local companies like Ron-Jon’s, Copiers Plus, B.E.T. telephone and WIRB T.V. station I.D.’s. Bitten by the advertising bug he returned to college for marketing advertising and landed a career in radio sales at WA1A . In 1999, George became Senior Underwriting Executive for WFIT.
