October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In recognition of this important topic, The Brevard Chapter of The National Organization for Women andZonta Club of Melbourne present "Human Trafficking - Modern Day Slavery."
The event takes place on Tuesday, October 14, 5:30 p.m. at the Blue Cellar, 924 E. New Haven Ave., Melbourne. Speakers will address local efforts to combat human trafficking and legislation to help victims and prosecute traffickers.
Human Trafficking is a $9-$17 billion international industry with Florida ranking 3rd in the United States. The event is free and open to the public.
