The Indian River Lagoon Teachers’ Workshop will provide tools, lesson plans and continuing education credits for teachers working in counties which border the Indian River Lagoon (IRL). Over the course of four days, teachers will be engaged in a series of lectures, classroom demonstrations and field activities to expand their knowledge of the IRL. Example topics may include: history of the IRL, the presence of invasive species, trends in seagrass health, impacts of nutrients, resources for species identification, management strategies and much more.
All educators within Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin counties are eligible to attend. The material covered during this four-day workshop will be applicable to those teaching middle and high school students.
The workshop is sponsored by the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program, Marine Resources Council and the Indian River Lagoon Research Institute at the Florida Institute of Technology.
