'All Things Considered' Welcomes Ari Shapiro, Kelly McEvers As Regular Hosts

ROBERT SIEGEL, HOST:

And, Ari, exclamation point and all, is on the line with us from London. How are you doing?

ARI SHAPIRO, BYLINE: Hi, Robert. I'm doing great.

AUDIE CORNISH, HOST:

And here in our Washington studios, we have Kelly McEvers. Kelly, welcome back.

KELLY MCEVERS, BYLINE: Thanks.

CORNISH: So in case you guys missed this, a few minutes earlier, Kelly and Ari are officially joining Robert and me next week as regular hosts of this program. And, Ari, I understand you're coming back to D.C. this weekend.

SHAPIRO: That's right. I filed my last story from London today, flying Saturday, unpacking Sunday, hosting the show on Monday.

SIEGEL: And, Kelly, your home base will be NPR West.

MCEVERS: That's right. I'll be hosting from here in D.C., but then heading back to LA and to our studios in Culver City, Calif. We'll be reporting on the West, you know, not just droughts and fires, but the innovation economy, how LA is becoming a city of the future. It's going to be exciting.

CORNISH: And, Ari, what are you looking forward to?

SHAPIRO: Well, I think the fact that now the show has four hosts rather than three is going to give us all an opportunity to get out of the studio a little bit more, take the conversation to where people are and really, you know, bring the show out to our audience rather than making everybody come to us in the studio.

SIEGEL: Hear, hear. Well, welcome to the ALL THINGS CONSIDERED staff. It's great to have you.

CORNISH: And, of course, we're putting you right to work. As you mentioned, Ari, you and Kelly are going be hosting the program together on Monday. I, for one, can't wait to hear you.

MCEVERS: Thanks.

SHAPIRO: You guys have set a high bar. We're looking forward to it. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
