2019 BCA CULTURAL SUMMIT

Join us for our third Cultural Summit, a daylong conference for the arts and cultural sector, at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place on Thursday, May 23.

The highlight of this daylong conference is a luncheon featuring a conversation with Simon Le Bon, lead singer of the iconic rock band Duran Duran. The Summit will also feature workshops tailored to arts and cultural organizations, artists of all genres and arts-related businesses.

All-day tickets and luncheon-only tickets are available for purchase. The cost to attend the full summit is $60 for BCA members, $75 for non-members, or $40 for the luncheon only.

This talk addresses how entrepreneurial artists can structure their offering, understand and reach their target audience, and maximize sales.
  • Option 3: Storytelling with Social Media – presented by Eric Parent of Next Level Digital MediaUse Instagram and Facebook Stories to tell compelling stories about your business or brand.
  • Option 4: Finding and Getting Grants for Cultural Organizations – presented by Jim Moody, Edyth Bush Institute for Philanthropy and Nonprofit LeadershipEngage in a discussion on securing grants at local, national and federal levels, with particular focus on potential opportunities for cultural organizations. This interactive workshop will also help attendees understand the cycle of cultivating grant opportunities including query letters, funder networking and grant stewardship.

Learn how to frame and pitch stories to local media outlets and explore audience engagement strategies to grow and diversify your audiences, local and tourists alike.

In order to take advantage of this channel, artists need to understand their options and the reality of the market. This talk offers specific strategies to enter the online market successfully. 
  • Option 3: Dig Into Data – Marketing Analytics – presented by Eric Parent of Next Level Digital MediaLearn the basics of Google Analytics and social media insights to track your success.
  • Option 4: A Conversation on Finding Success in the Music Industry, Panel – Featuring Wendy Laister, CEO of Magus Entertainment; Todd Kennedy, Program Director, WFIT; Patrick Thompson, Manager, The Spring; Manuel Fawcett, Lead Singer & Guitarist, The SpringThe music industry has changed significantly. Our panel will discuss how musicians can use current platforms to sell themselves, and gain insight from a variety of perspectives in the music industry on the path to success.
