WFIT's Spring Fund Drive begins at 7 am on Friday, March 29th. Bright & early, you'll hear Terri Wright's familiar, friendly voice asking for you to take a stand for your local public radio station. Your trusted source of news and your oasis of music, music that carries you away from it all. After all, it is your flow of financial support that keeps our public radio programming local. It is why our show hosts have the ability to play music which you won't hear on commercial radio. It's music they hand pick to share with you, and their choices are limitless.
On March 29th in 1948, Niagara Falls' water flow stopped, which was quite the phenomenon. We're hoping that you'll be able to stop a moment on March 29th, 2019 (or anytime through April 7th) to support the programming you depend on.
Our goal is set at $60,000, and we're looking to have 100 new donors join our membership family by the end of these 10 days. Gracie is looking to you, she is one of our newest WFIT listeners, and with her beautiful ears, she makes sure to hear every word. Dave the Donkey (picture at bottom of newsletter) has also been a long time listener & supporter. No matter what amount you give, your gift helps keep the programs flowing. You truly make a difference in our ability to keep your favorite programming available to enlighten, educate and entertain our whole community of listeners.
Maybe this is the year you'd like to become a sustaining member. It's a great option for both you and WFIT. A regular monthly gift from your credit card or bank account, means no renewals to think about, and spreading your gift over the year is easier on your budget.
As always, we have a vast selection of "Thank You Gifts" to choose from, when you make your pledge (securely online or by calling 321-674-8950), or you can choose to have the total amount go towards programming. Our "Thank You Gifts" include gift certificates for restaurants, stores and services, theatre & concert tickets, T-shirts, hats, CDs and more.
Please help us spread the word about WFIT's fund drive on facebook and twitter, and encouraging others to support their local public radio station, WFIT 89.5 FM. For Questions about memberships please contact me, Jane Clary at firstname.lastname@example.org or 321-674-8140. We greatly appreciate our listeners, and thank you so much for all your support.
A Bit Of Niagara Falls History
In 1848, on March 29th, Niagara residents accustomed to the flow of the Niagara River were awakened when the Niagara River ceased to flow. The reason - a strong south-west wind pushed the ice in Lake Erie in motion. Millions of tons of ice became lodged at the mouth of the Niagara River at Lake Erie blocking the channel completely. The self-made dam held the water for approximately 30 to 40 hours until the wind shifted and the pent-up weight of the water broke, forcing the Niagara River to flow again on March 31st. 1848 Story from NiagaraHistory.com
