Virtual Course Offers High School Students Interaction with Renowned Faculty

High-school students are invited to explore the world of civil engineering this summer, from the technology of traffic control to how airplanes fly, in a two-week virtual course from the leader in STEM education, Florida Tech.

FUNdamental Engineering Dreamers Adventure on July 13-16 and July 20-23 will feature daily, hour-long Zoom sessions from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and fun and challenging post-class assignments. The program is for students in grades 9-12.

In addition to traffic and aviation, other topics covered in the program include a data-driven look at hurricanes, an exploration of construction equipment, and a deep dive into some of the key elements surround us that we may take for granted – soil and pavement defects.

“If you learn and understand these concepts you will start a journey that will help our planet survive and sustain itself,” said Paul Cosentino, the Florida Tech civil engineering professor who organized the program and has assembled a group of esteemed colleagues to take participants on this unique journey.

The 2 week FUNdamental Engineering Dreamers Adventure costs $400. Additional information and enrollment details are available here.
