WFIT's New Release Playlist for September

It was another great month for new music.

The supergroup of Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, Amanda Shires, and Natalie Hemby made a vivid, vital debut.  Frankie Cosmos released a great follow up to their strong 2018 Sub Pop debut album.  Pixies' third post-reunion album is their spookiest and most engaging music since getting back together.  The Lumineers gave us a song cycle about addiction and codependency.  On her solo debut, Alabama Shakes lead singer Brittany Howard revisits her past through a funky, adventurous prism.  Nashville crooner Andrew Combs delivered a compelling 11-track set that looks to the cosmic country stylings of Lee Hazlewood. Tegan & Sara revisited songs they wrote as teens, giving them a modern update that nods to all the phases of their long career.

Here's some of our favorites for the month of September.
