Chuck Prophet on Mountain Stage

If anyone was born with a rock and roll heart, it's San Francisco's Chuck Prophet. Performing, recording and producing since 1985, Chuck Prophet started releasing solo albums in 1990 with Brother Aldo. He's made eight appearances on Mountain Stage since 2000, often working along side the Mountain Stage Band, as he does in this set recorded in Spring 2018.

Prophet does some songs from his latest release, Bobby Fuller Died For your Sins. (Bobby Fuller performed the hit version of "I Fought The Law" before his mysterious death at age 23 in 1966).

The amplified "California Noir" sound of Prophet is prevalent in songs like "Coming Out In Code" and "Jesus Was a Social Drinker."

Prophet made his first appearance on Mountain Stage in the year 2000, on a show that also featured the legendary roots man Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown."I'm going to start it with my best 'Gatemouth' Brown imitation." Prophet says while introducing "Bad Year For Rock and Roll," pointing down to the stage and adding "I learned it right here."

Prophet's Summer Time Gigs tour runs well into the fall and in June he opens two nights for The Pretenders in California.

The Mountain Stage Band is Ammed Solomon on drums, John Inghram on bass, Ryan Kennedy and Michael Lipton on electric guitars, Bob Thompson on piano and Ron Sowell and Julie Adams on vocals.
