Dr. Robert Weaver, Assistant Professor of Ocean Engineering, Department of Marine and Environmental Systems, stopped by the WFIT studios to participate in a Florida Tech Faculty and Staff Profile. Dr. Weaver discusses the array of courses offered in Ocean Engineering. He also elaborates on a natural reef project, undertaken by one of his graduate students, to provide a habitat for fish and coral. An additional goal is to attract oysters and clams to the reefs as these ocean creatures are considered to play the role of "kidneys" within our water systems' biological framework. The natural reefs are also designed to to stave off coastal corrosion.
