Florida Tech Faculty and Staff Profile Features John Hudacek

Panther Battalion

John Hudacek, Scholarship and Enrollment Officer for the Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) Program, stopped by the WFIT studios on the Florida Tech campus, to participate in a Florida Tech Faculty and Staff Profile.  Currently, there are 54 Florida Tech students enrolled in the  Florida Tech ROTC program (Panther Battalion).  John stated in the near future, due to the US government sequestration and the downsizing of the US Army, 50% of ROTC commissioned officers will serve in the Reserves and not on Active Duty.  John explains the difference between being in the Reserve versus being on Active Duty.  However, this status is entirely based on real-world requirements and rulings by Congress and the President of the United States of America.  Via an established chain-of-command, all US military personnel report directly to the President, the Commander-in-Chief, and are subject to recall and/or deployment as the President deems necessary in support of our nation's democratic policies.
