We begin this week with Rachel Barton Pine's New CD of Vivaldi's concerti for Viola d'Amore, a now-extinct instrument equipped with a set of resonator strings that produced tones, sitar-like, by means of sympathetic vibrations from the bowed strings.
Then four more of the Paganini caprices, some English Renaissance music, and the third in our cycle of the symphonies of Johannes Brahms. Then we'll look at some music from Finland -- Finnish music without Sibelius -- and conclude with and early chamber work by Schubert and some of Gustav Holst's mystical works set from the Rig Veda of ancient India.
