Portrait of Beethoven by Joseph Karl Stieler, ca. 1818.

We don't know exactly when Beethoven was born; the only official record is that of his baptism on December 17, 1770.

So his birthday COULD be December 13th, and that's a good enough excuse for a party this Thursday in Mozart's Attic. It's an all-Beethoven program this week with some music that's among the world's most familiar, and some other works that are a bit more obscure.

Originally from central Massachusetts, Jay has called the Space Coast home for more than 30 years. He began his association with WFIT in the late '90s as a dumpster diver for office furniture in response to a broadcast plea for a new chair from a frustrated disc jockey. (WFIT has come a long way since.)
