Georg Philipp Telemann
Warner Classics
Georg Philipp Telemann

Cervantes wrote his novel Don Quixote in the early 1600s, and Georg Philipp Telemann and Richard Strauss both had something to say about it musically: Telemann in 1761, and Strauss in 1897. As you might guess, there’s little similarity beyond the title. We’ll hear them both this Sunday night, and you can take your pick.

Our series of the Beethoven Piano Sonatas continues with the Ninth, and we also continue the set of Antonio Vivaldi’s Violin Concerti from his collection, La Stravaganza.

Originally from central Massachusetts, Jay has called the Space Coast home for more than 30 years. He began his association with WFIT in the late '90s as a dumpster diver for office furniture in response to a broadcast plea for a new chair from a frustrated disc jockey. (WFIT has come a long way since.)
