Maurice Ravel penned a piano duet drawn from Mother Goose tales for the amusement of a friend’s children in 1910.

His publisher saw commercial possibilities, and the score was orchestrated into a suite, Ma Mere l’Oye, the following year. Next was a ballet score, which is nowadays seldom performed, but that’s the version of Mother Goose we’ll hear this Sunday.

He began his association with WFIT in the late '90s as a dumpster diver for office furniture in response to a broadcast plea for a new chair from a frustrated disc jockey.
