Brevard County's outdoor enthusiasts will have many opportunities to explore the county's natural areas during the first ever Brevard Wildlife Corridor Expedition, through April 21st. During the expedition local conservationists will lead participants on a series of outdoor excursions throughout the Space Coast. Organizers hope to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the county's natural places.

Vince Lamb, an organizer for the expedition, says inspiration for the event came from Florida Wildlife Corridor Expedition, which took place in 2012. The Florida Wildlife Corridor Expedition was a bigger scale project, as it was a state-long outdoor journey, but a with similar concept: connecting wild places and connecting people with those places.

"I'm very pleased that we're the first county in Florida to do something locally like this," says Lamb.
