A legend in folk music radio, Rich Warren, host of WFMT’s iconic The Midnight Special since 1983, is passing the baton to Marilyn Rea Beyer, the fourth host in the show’s 67-year history. “I’m excited to welcome the wonderful Marilyn Rea Beyer to take The Midnight Special into a new era,” said WFMT General Manager George Preston. “I hope listeners will join me in thanking Rich and welcoming Marilyn.”
A seasoned broadcaster, educator, writer, poet and storyteller, Marilyn Rea Beyer was on-air midday host and music director for Boston’s WUMB from 1994-2014. She has taught speech communication at SAE Institute Chicago (School of Audio Engineering), and writing for the media at Lasell University, Newton, MA. “I have loved The Midnight Special since my teens,” she said, and looks forward to find “new ways to envision this legendary program that has for so long been a beacon to listeners.” WFIT welcomes Midnight Special’s new host Marilyn Rea Beyer debut this Saturday morning, September 5 6am – 8am.
