Before leaving his hometown of Salzburg, Mozart wrote the first of his three great masses, the only one he actually finished, the Coronation Mass in C major. We’ll hear it this Sunday, and then — like Mozart — we’ll poke around the Vienna musical scene which, in the classical period, also included Haydn, Beethoven, and Schubert. Each of them had much to contribute to the musical center of Europe in the day.
