Ways to Connect

Current Swell, a Canadian indie rock band from Victoria, British Columbia stopped by for a live in-studio session with Sound Waves on March 5.

The band has been described as being in the foreground of the "new roots" music front pushing out of Canada's west coast. Current Swell was generous to make some time for WFIT in the midst of an upcoming tour of USA/Australia/United Kingdom and European. Enjoy this great session.

Guitar player, Don Soledad and Cajon player, Kevin Kornicki joined Sound Waves host Todd Kennedy for a great live session at the studio.

Their new album, Soluna, was just released in December 2012. It incorporates a mixture of traditional and modern flamenco.

Influenced by the sounds of downtown San Francisco, Soledad and his band create their music from those influences and a background in flamenco.

Christopher Long who penned A Shot Of Poison which tells the tale of his tour with metal band Poison and Canadian author Brent Jensen who wrote No Sleep ‘Till Sudbury: Adventures in 80s Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Deconstruction stopped by our studio for a lively chat.

Here is the much-requested list of some of the best albums of 2012. This year, listeners of Sound Waves submitted their picks too. It was a great year for debut albums as well as a few career defining records from some legendary artists.
