National Honey Bee Day

National Honey Bee Day

The Brevard Backyard Beekeepers will be buzzing with activity at the University of Florida Brevard County Extension Center on Lake Drive in Cocoa from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Saturday August 10th to celebrate National Honey Bee Day! The event is free to the public and is aimed to heighten awareness and appreciation for honey bees and to provide educational information about the global importance of the world's most important single species of pollinator. The event will feature demonstrations and lectures by Expert Beekeepers and Master Gardeners. Watch a honey extraction and take home a free sample. Taste honey samples, look inside a bee hive, talk to expert beekeepers and try on a beekeepers suit. Kids can participate in a Spelling Bee for great prizes. Come dressed like a bee to help celebrate the day. Plenty of local honey, hive products and local crafts will be available for purchase. Education, food, children’s games and activities will be on hand to celebrate everything honey bees!
