Barrier Island Center Hosts Turkey Creek Paddle Day

The Barrier Island Center will be offering a series of activities through November as part of Trash Treasure Month. Saturday, November 17th is Turkey Creek Paddle day. Explore hydric and mesic hammocks and sand pine scrubbed by the treasured blackwater creek. The meeting place for the event is at Goode Park in Palm Bay at 1 pm. Please wear water shoes and sunscreen and bring a water bottle, a snack and insect repellant. Kayak tours for singles and pairs will be available with a limited enrollment of 20 people. Make sure to make your reservation by November 15. Binoculars and cash for a stop at the Margaret Hames Nature Center and Gift Shop are optional.

The Barrier Island Center is owned and managed by the Brevard County Environmentally Endangered Lands Program. It is located at 8385 South Highway A1A, Melbourne Beach. The Center is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call (321) 723-3556.
