It's Time For The Melbourne Art Festival

Melbourne Art Festival 2013.jpg

Historic Downtown Melbourne will be host to the works of over 250 artists, craftsmen and entertainers from around the country when the 29th Annual Melbourne Art Festival arrives this weekend - Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28.

With it's long history in Melbourne, Florida  -29 years! -  it's hard to find anyone not already familiar with the phenomenal display of artistic talent and entertainment the festival brings to the Brevard community.

WFIT has been a proud sponsor of the festival for more years than we can recollect and the station takes great pleasure in promoting the Arts right here in our backyard. Look for the WFIT table as you're making your way around the displays and stop by  to say hello.  You just might run into your favorite show host or perhaps you'll feel like taking the time to offer feedback on WFIT's programming.

Admission is free to this all-volunteer event which in addition to the traditional art show includes a hefty entertainment schedule, the famous Flamingo 5K Run, art workshops, a student art competition, KidsWorld and a food court.  Special mention must go to KidsWorld as weekends are family time and the festival provides a rich variety of fascinating, hands-on demonstrations, arts & crafts, experiments and performances that will excite and stimulate young artists in attendance.

Beebs at WFIT Studios.jpg
Beebs and Her Money Makers recently visited WFIT Studios. Beebs headlines the Melbourne Art Festival at 7 p.m. Saturday April 27th.

I recently heard about  the amazing Mr. Science who will be performing Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. You might just see me sandwiched in amongst the kids!

Being a music-centric station, WFIT also feels a great affinity for the awesome line-up of performers who will grace the professional entertainment stage.  Beebs and Her Money Makers are one of the Melbourne Art Festival's headline acts.

Beebs recently visited WFIT studios for a live session, and wow, that woman can sing! Other notable friends of WFIT who will be performing this weekend include Tina Eno, Honey Miller, The Henegar Center, the Brevard Busking Coalition and many others.

The only downside for an event as large as the Melbourne Art Festival is the parking, traffic and congestion that results. But wait! The organizers have once again provided for a free Park and Ride service that will help alleviate these concerns.

To learn more about the Melbourne Art Festival, visit their website, which in of itself is a work of art, or call 321-722-1964. Come on out and enjoy the arts and entertainment....we'll see you there!
