A Taste of Jazz To Air In-Depth Interview, Performance With Jeremy Siskind, Oct. 20

This Monday, October 20, at 7 p.m., Dave Fries will present an in-depth interview with Jeremy Siskind on A Taste of Jazz. Siskind is winner of the Nottingham International Jazz Competition, a second-place finisher in the Montreux Jazz Festival Solo Piano Competition, a two-time finalist for the American Pianist Association’s Cole Porter Fellowship, and a two-time time second-place finisher at the Phillips Jazz Competition.      

Siskind, who was recently named an Assistant Professor of Music in piano and jazz studies at Western Michigan University’s School of Music, made a sold-out solo debut at Carnegie Hall in 2012, performing Debussy’s "Etudes" in the first half and jazz improvisations in the second half.   

Siskind is the Artistic Director of the American Jazz Piano Competition being sponsored in part by Florida Tech and WFIT, with semi-finals being held Saturday, November 1, 2014 and finals on Sunday, November 2, at the Gleason Center for Performing Arts on the campus of Florida Tech.  WFIT will broadcast the semi-finals and finals.
