Give Back to the Indian River Lagoon!
The Marine Resources Council hosts an open house on Sunday December 8th from 3-5pm. The event is free and open to the public.
Marine Resources Council is hosting an Indian River Lagoon Paddle Adventure Party to kick off their Winter Membership Drive at the Ted Moorhead Lagoon House on Sunday, December 8 from 3:00-5:00 pm. Join MRC in welcoming the Indian River Lagoon Paddle Adventure Team as they stop at the Lagoon House on their way from New Smyrna to Jupiter Inlet. Renowned artist, Vernon Nicoli Mattioli, will be creating a mural entitled “The Giving Tree,” representing the life-giving mangrove tree foundational to all living things in the Lagoon. Be one of the first to contribute to the “Giving Tree” by sponsoring a mangrove leaf or the tree itself. A commemorative mangrove leaf can be engraved with three lines of text for a donation of $100 and “The Giving Tree” itself can be sponsored for $5000. Proceeds will support youth educational programs on Lagoon habitats and active mangrove planting. Give the gift of membership that gives back to the Indian River Lagoon! The Indian River Lagoon has contributed billions of dollars to our local economy and has enhanced our community with a backdrop of inspiration, wonder, and joy. The Lagoon is experiencing unprecedented losses due to toxic algal blooms and water pollution that may result in a collapse of our fisheries. It is time for us to give back to the Lagoon. Marine Resources Council is leading lagoon-wide efforts to save the Lagoon through facilitated problem solving, educational workshops, and active mangrove restoration.
