Bayfront 5"K9" Benefits Animal Shelters

Dog Friendly Race Invites you to move your “paws” to Save Homeless Pets and Fight Pet Obesity

Bayfront 5"K9" Race Sunday December 15th 8 am

Palm Bay Animal Clinic, Clearlake Animal Hospital and Swift Paws  presents this Dog Friendly event with proceeds benefitting the Brevard County Animal Shelters.  The 4th annual event fights pet obesity and saves homeless pets.

Everyone knows that obesity in humans is a growing epidemic, but did you know this is a serious problem for our nation’s pet population as well? It is estimated that nearly 54% of pets are overweight or obese, causing them to lose up to 2 years on their natural lifespan. In 2010, Drs. Jen and Paul Sikoski, veterinarians at Palm Bay Animal Clinic and Clearlake Animal Hospital, organized a unique event for dogs and their owners to get active and raise money to help homeless pets in the process. In the last 3 years, over $15,000 has been raised to benefit Brevard County Animal Shelters. Please join us again in pulling the community together for the 4th annual Bayfront 5“K9” Fun Run and Walk to be held on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 8am. It will be an exciting opportunity for people to get out with their beloved pets, get some exercise, and raise money for the homeless pets of our community.

Solo or team runners and walkers, as well as those with their DOGS and children will all be welcome for some friendly competition or just a day to get out and play. We are excited to announce that this year we are partnering with Swift Paws Lure Chasing to offer another great activity for your dog on race day. There will be a post race gathering and award ceremony in the parking lot of Palm Bay Animal Clinic, providing an excellent opportunity for socializing, networking, getting information about pets available for adoption, and fun for all! Special awards will be given to the top 3 dogs in 3 weight classes (small, medium, large).
