This Friday January 20th at 1:30 pm Florida Tech will celebrate Arbor Day by planting 5 Bald Cypress trees in front of the WFIT studios.  Come on out and meet Pete the Panther, tour the WFIT studios and get a little dirty.  WFIT studios are located on University Blvd just west of Babcock.

Arbor Day in Florida

Florida has celebrated Arbor Day since 1886 and has one of the first Arbor Day celebrations in the nation, on the third Friday in January. Over 200 communities in Florida celebrate Arbor Day, either as a stand-alone event or in conjunction with some other occasion.

Florida's Arbor Day is always celebrated on the third Friday in January, making Florida the first state celebration in the country. The Arbor Day Foundation recently donated more than $100,500 to replant more than 500,000 trees in Florida this year, bringing the statewide total to 2.1 million.

Terri Wright has held the position of General Manager at WFIT since 1998.
