Now in our 17th year, the Conradina Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society is proud to showcase native plant landscapes in the Indialantic and Melbourne Beach area of Brevard County and at the Barrier Island Sanctuary (https://brevardlandscapetour.org/barrier-island-sanctuary /). Our purpose is to provide education on the numerous native plants in Florida that can thrive without the use of irrigation or fertilizers. We are also partnering with local artists to showcase the beauty and importance of native plants. With over 1,000 people moving to Florida each day, many residents don’t realize the harm done to our wildlife & waterways by the maintenance of non-native and invasive plants.
All tour ticket holders ($15 per ticket) will receive a free native plant and access to our 1st Annual Conservation Fair in Orlando Park [1000 South Ramona Avenue, Indialantic, FL 32903]. The Conservation Fair itself will be free, open to the public and include our sponsors, nonprofit organizations and local artists highlighting the beauty of nature! For more info on the sites and to order tickets, go to https://brevardlandscapetour.org/
COCOA, FL — The Central Brevard Art Association (CBAA), in partnership with the Catherine Schweinsberg Rood Central Library in Cocoa, is presenting an interactive touch art exhibition in support of the library’s Talking Books program and Vision Fair, to be held October 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.The Talking Books Library provides free audio materials and specialized services for residents with visual or physical disabilities that make reading standard print difficult. The interactive exhibition, on display October 2026 through January 2027, features artwork created to encourage engagement through both sight and touch, offering a unique experience for visually impaired and sighted visitors alike. At the center of the exhibition is “Cecelia’s Invitation,” an interactive touch concept created by CBAA artists Jan Bryant, an acrylic and watercolor artist, and Janet Bethay, an abstract/modern acrylic artist. The inspiration for “Cecelia’s Invitation” grewfrom a desire to create a more intimate connectionwith art through touch and imagination. The installation consists of three large48-by-60-inch abstract canvases that visitors areinvited—and given permission—to explorethrough touch. The exhibit takes its name from Cecelia, thevisually impaired daughter of one of Bethay’sfriends. When Cecelia explored one of Bethay’spaintings by tracing the movement and texturecreated by sweeping brush and broom strokes, sheresponded: “WOW, I can feel the ocean.”Her interpretation was uniquely her own—andthat is exactly the point.Visitors are intentionally given no instructions forhow to interpret “Cecelia’s Invitation.” Instead, each person is encouraged to discover the artworkindividually through texture, movement, imagination and personal experience.Additional CBAA artists contributing works to theinteractive exhibition include PriscillaD’Annibale, Judith Mammay, Judith Caruana,Cassandra Myer, Dawn Kelly, Karen D. Hollister, and Ashley Cooke. The exhibition is open to the public atthe Catherine Schweinsberg Rood Central Libraryin Cocoa, Florida, October 2026 through January2027.
